noir et blanc
—Katalin Hetey, Tamás Konok—

Opening speech by His Excellency Mr. Eric Fournier, Ambassador of France to Hungary

Art+Text Budapest is pleased to present the show entitled noir et blanc by Tamás Konok (1930–), one of the last mohicans of the Hungarian abstract masters having lived in Paris before, and Katalin Hetey (1924–2010), who is famous for her geometric sculptures. The exhibition will showcase a selection of artworks from both oeuvres born in the Paris–Zürich–Budapest triangle. It aims to pass through the black-and-white stages of the more than half-century-long careers —from the early arte povera sculptures and monochrome reliefs through plaster objects to reductive sign forms and geometric structures. Art historical rarities from the 60s and two abstract oeuvres born in Paris but culminated in Hungary —in black and white.
